Jessamyn Pedersen & Kayleigh Bakocs
July 7, 2018
Kayleigh Bakocs is a 14 year old who has been involved in music since she was little.
She hails from Ennismore and started her music endeavours in the Chemong Public School choir. She eventually wanted to learn an instrument so chose to play the trumpet.
Upon moving to the town of Campbellford, Ontario, she joined the Westben Wind Ensemble, a group lead by Nancy Elmhirst. Here, Kayleigh began learning the alto saxophone.
Over the last year, she has started lessons in guitar and occasionally uses Youtube Videos to choose songs to learn piano. She has been spending much of 2017 and 2018 playing and singing with friends and was a Junior player in the Campbellford District High School Jazz Ensemble on Saxophone. She has a love of many styles of music from country, to rock and roll, pop and hip hop. She will continue to pursue music for enjoyment and eagerly shares her gifts with others.

Jessamyn Pedersen is a 14 year old local musician, born and raised in the town of Campbellford, Ontario. Jessamyn has been very involved in the musical community since an early age. As many musicians do, she spent her very early years learning to sing songs and by 7 years old, she was ready to join the Westben Youth Chorus under the direction of Donna Bennett and Brian Finley. Her natural singing abilities and strong sense of musicality has lead her to begin her journey as a professional musician. She has, over the last 7 years, acquired certificates in the Royal Conservatory of Music in Vocal training, with her instruction from Donna Bennett, and in piano, under the training of Nancy Elmhirst. Jessamyn has also had piano training and vocal training from local musician and teacher, Janet Jeffrey, and in 2017 has achieved success as a Junior, invited to accompany the Senior Campbellford District High School Jazz Band. This band has gone on this year, as in many years previous, to achieve a Gold Award in the Nationals Music Fest. Jessamyn accompanied this band by playing piano and vocally. Some of her past experiences have been singing O’Canada for several local community events, including at a dinner for a group of local and other MP’s. At the ages of 8, 9 and 10, 13 and 14, Jessamyn was one of few children who joined the likes of local musician, Ken Tizzard, in offering up her singing and piano playing for the Variety Shows and MS Fundraising shows to raise money for the community and Multiple Sclerosis. As part of the Westben choir, she has participated in many premier performances of Fiddler On The Roof, The Pencil Salesman, Joseph and The Technicolour Dream Coat, Oliver and several Christmas shows.
Whenever possible, Jessamyn has offered her abilities to share with the public. Currently, she has joined with her father, Brian Pedersen, a local guitar, mandolin and saxophone player, to start playing local shows. She has been learning guitar from Brian and plans to spend the summer of 2018 learning to play the saxophone from him as well. The shows she has coming up will be at the Churchkey Pub and Grindhouse, I AM COFFEE cafe, and Caper’s Tap House. These shows will take place over the summer of 2018 and onward. Jessamyn will be starting on her Grade 6 level of Royal Conservatory Piano in September of 2018 and is mid-way through her Grade 8 Level Vocal Conservatory. Jessamyn is classically trained and is pursuing musical interests in R&B, Jazz and Funk. Please check on her links to past performances.
